Ever land on a website and think, “Wow... this looks like every other site I’ve ever seen”? Yeah. Same.
That’s what happens when you rely too much on AI to build your website. You get speed, sure. Clean layouts. A few clever headlines. But let’s be real—it usually ends up feeling like the digital version of elevator music. Technically acceptable... but totally forgettable.
I Tried Letting AI Build a Website
And honestly? I was impressed at first. Just a bunch of prompts and boom I got A homepage, an about section, some lorem ipsum that almost passed for human. But then I looked closer. There was no soul. No personality. Nothing that felt like you. Just a bunch of sterile components stitched together by a robot doing its best impression of a creative director.
So I did what most designers eventually do. I stepped in.
Here’s the Problem With Letting AI Do Everything
AI’s great at solving puzzles. Layouts? Easy. Color palettes? Sure. Basic copy? It can crank that out in seconds. But here’s the thing: AI doesn’t get people.
It doesn’t understand your story.
It can’t feel your passion.
And it definitely doesn’t know what sets your brand apart from the 17 other tabs your customer has open.
You end up with:
A site that sounds like a robot wrote it. Because, well... it did.
Clean but soulless design. Think corporate brochure from 2008.
A user experience that technically works but doesn’t move anyone.
So, What’s the Fix?
Me. Or someone like me.A human who talks to you. Listens. Gets what you’re about and turns that into something visual. Something that actually feels like you, not just another box checked. When I work with a client, I don’t just ask, “What color do you like?”
I ask what you believe in. Who you’re trying to reach. What you want people to feel when they land on your homepage.
And yeah, I use AI. I’m not out here designing with a hammer and chisel. That’d be nuts. But I use it where it helps—early drafts, quick layouts, rough wireframes. Then I step in with the human part.
The part that notices when something feels off. That nudges a button a few pixels to make it just a bit easier to click. That rewrites a headline that sounds like it came from a LinkedIn ad bot.
Stage | What AI Does | What I Do |
Discovery | Suggests keywords, competitor sites | Talk to you. Ask better questions. Dig deeper. |
Ideas | Spits out templates and text options | Build a visual story. Set the tone. Create a vibe. |
Design | Lays out basic UI components | Design with intention. Make it intuitive. |
Refinement | Checks spacing, alignment, and typos | Add warmth. Rhythm. Humanity. |
Why It Matters
Because your website isn’t just a brochure. It’s your handshake. Your elevator pitch. Your first (and maybe only) shot to make someone feel something. If blending into the sea of AI-built sameness is fine with you, no judgment.
But if you want a site that makes people stop, scroll, and remember—let’s talk.No pressure. Just two humans (well, one human and you) figuring out how to make the internet feel a little more... human.
Want to build something real? Reach out. Let’s make something that actually sounds—and feels—like you.
